The Birthday Party vs. The Stooges

• When Nick was in his teens, he bought a copy of the Stooges album Raw Power just because of the cover, shown here to the right. This album had a great impact on Nick's musical taste.
• The Boys Next Door have covered the Iggy Pop/David Bowie song China Girl.
• The Boys Next Door version of Louie Louie is very evidently influenced by The Stooges' version on Metallic KO.
• The Birthday Party have covered the Stooges songs Loose, Funhouse, and Little Doll. The latter song was also performed by Nick and Die Haut on many occasions. There has been one concert in Australia where The Birthday Party played a lot of Stooges covers, but I don't have details on this gig.
• Iggy Pop joined Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds in Adelaide, 1/2/93 on the Big Day Out festival on which they both appeared, for the songs Deanna and Little Doll. The above photo is from that festival. Also during the Big Day Out that year, Nick joined Sonic Youth during their cover of I Wanna Be Your Dog.
• Both Nick Cave and Iggy Pop have recorded albums at Hansa Studios in Berlin.
• Both Nick Cave and Iggy Pop performed on Mark Radcliffe's White Room on UK TV on 24/2/96.
• During a soundcheck for a Bad Seeds gig in Lille on 3/10/93, Nick Cave did a cover of Lust For Life.
• When Nick presented Rage in 1994, he played Lust For Life, which he also selected among his favorite tracks of the 80s in 1989. When Mick Harvey presented Rage in 1992, he played Lust For Life and Candy.
• In Cangioli and Scalise's book, there is a photograph of Nick and Iggy at Lollapalooza, 1994. In the Stranded book, there's another photo from the Big Day Out in 1993 with Iggy and Nick.
• In an interview, Iggy was asked what three fellow musicians he would choose to have around if he got into a scrap. His first choice was Keith Richards just cause he is so cool, second Nick Cave, cause he looks like he could hold his own and third, Henry Rollins just so he could see Henry put all those muscles to work.
• In the Nick Cave book by Dax and Beck has the following Iggy Pop quote: "I listen to his records and go to his concerts. That's the greatest compliment I can pay an artist."
