Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds Concerts 1984 - 1989
"Man or Myth" tour - Australia - January 1984
Comments: In January 1984, the band (Nick, Mick, Barry, Hugo and Tracy Pew) toured Australia
as "Nick Cave - Man or Myth". "Vixo" is the only known live performance of this song,
in an uptempo version which is quite different from the version on the Annie Hogan EP.
This is also the only tour that ever featured "Wings Of Flies".
It seems they also played "It Serves You Right To Suffer" on this tour.

They always played the same 9 songs below. Edward Clayton-Jones replaced Blixa during May 17-26, and at that time
the band name and the order of the setlist also changed.

"The Firstborn Is Dead" tour, 1st leg - Europe - October/November 1984
Comments: Hugo Race has left the Bad Seeds and the band is now a quartet: Nick Cave, Mick Harvey, Blixa Bargeld
and Barry Adamson. First performances of songs from "The Firstborn Is Dead". Knocking On Joe and Black Crow King versions
from 1984 are very uptempo. I think on this short tour, the Bad Seeds sounded the most improvising.
For Saint Huck, they used backing tapes. According to an ear-witness, "Wanted Man" was played in Madrid,
and that may have been its live debut.

and Barry Adamson was replaced by Christoph Dreher. Still some Birthday Party songs were played.
All songs from "The Firstborn Is Dead" were performed. Note that "From Her To Eternity" was not on the 85 setlists.

"The Firstborn Is Dead" tours - Europe/USA/Japan/Australia - fall 1985
Comments: The Aussie concerts from November were gigs during the "Kicking" sessions, and already feature some of those songs.
Probably "Did You Hear About Jerry?" (H. Belafonte) and "Rye Whiskey" were considered for inclusion on that album.

"Your Funeral My Trial" tours - Europe/USA - September/October 1986
Comments: Barry Adamson has left, but two new Bad Seeds have joined the Bad Seeds, which makes the band grow to 6:
Nick Cave, Mick Harvey, Blixa Bargeld, Thomas Wydler, Kid Congo Powers and Roland Wolf.
In the fall of 1986, the brand new setlist mainly consisted of material from the two new albums.
Only two "oldies" were regularly performed. Several songs from "Kicking" were never played, while only two from
"Your Funeral My Trial" were ignored in this first tour: Hard On For Love and The Carny.
The loose date in Munich in December is listed in the 1987 overview. The 28/10/86 San Francisco,
Reckless Records Shop session is listed here. John Lee Hooker's "Mini Skirts"
was spontaneously played in Detroit when Blixa's amp broke down (thanks Hans for this info).

"Tender Prey" tour, 2nd leg - USA - March/April 1989
Comments: The setlists of the tour of the USA were similar to those in 1988, except that She Fell Away fell away.
T.S.O.P. (i.e. The Sound Of Philadelphia) is an instrumental. Boston 11/02/89 contains two lines of Massachusetts
from The Bee Gees. Thomas Heath wrote that in Alrosa Villa, Columbus, OH on 16/2/89, they did "Nick The Stripper"
and "Blue Suede Shoes". Unfortunately there's no tape evidence of that.
