Side projects
Following are several UB40 band member involvements in solo projects or with other artists. All in chronological order.

Starvation
Robin, Ali and Ray "Pablo" Falconer joined the Pioneers and many friends on the remake of the Pioneers original "Starvation" in 1985. Proceeds of the single went to the famine areas of Ethiopia, Eritrea and Sudan.

The song came out on 7" and 12" (African Version) and was released on Madness new Zarjazz label.

The Madness
Earl Falconer joins this Madness spinoff. The Madness LP features Earl on bass guitar.

Biko
Vocalist Patti recorded some of her work at UB40's DEP International and asked UB40's engineer Ray Falconer if some of the members could join on her new single. This single, "Biko", was released under the name Patti and guest musicians The DEP Band in 1986 on the Important Records label. The 12" release has the same song length as the 7".

  Shikisha
South African artist Sipho Mabuse got a UB40 remix treatment in 1987. His single "Shikisha" was produced by UB40 and engineered by John Shaw.

Some Guys Have All The Luck
Maxi Priest' "Some Guys Have All The Luck" got a special remix treatment by UB40. The CD-single (GUYSCD 198) has the 7" remix, the 12 " (TEN R198) has the long extended remix.

  Sister And Brother

Wintertime Is On
UB40 join the Whole World Band on this charity release. The 21st Anniversary Book reveales the band joining on this release though Brian Travers of UB40 doesn't remember joining this project! The sleeve credits do mention UB40 but hearing the song you can't distinguish the bands sound. The B-side of the 12" single does have an instrumental song which has a UB40-ish sound but am not sure its them. The sleeve doesn't mention a release date, songs sound end of the 80's but 21st Anniversary book lists it at 1992.

The first ZTT Records CD-single with the "Forceable Lobotomy" version (ZANG35CD) was retracted from the market when Virgin released it and has thus become a collectors' item.
