Welcome

The data which I collect on the Dewey Story Test will be given on these pages.

The Dewey Story Test is a test composed in 1974 by mrs. Margaret Dewey as a first attempt at tryingto understand the frustrations of adolescents who no longer fitted the stereotype of younger autistic children. She constructed stories involving some ordinary social interaction mingled with unusual interactions. The stories were understood consistenly by normal students, so unconventional answers might help pin-point problems in autistic subjects (Dewey, 1991).

Gathering data

On these pages, the Dewey Story Test can be filled out. Using the "norms" developed by Ellis, Ellis, Fraser & Deb (1994), a tentative interpretation is given of the results, making use of JavaScript. All data are gathered and summarized for inspection. To summarize these data for use on these pages, I write the incoming Dewey's to a file, which will be analyzed by a Tcl-script, the results of which will be shown under the heading of gathered data. All forms which are not completely filled out will be useless. Any form in which the age or gender is not filled out will be excluded and not be found in the gathered data section.
When it seems that one person has sent in several forms, there may be several courses of action I may take. When only the answers have been changed I only keep the first message sent. If the diagnosis has been changed, I'll try to contact the person by mail, if that is not possible all entries will be deleted.

If you decide to send in a form, please be as accurate as possible. Especially when filling in your diagnosis. If you are sending in the form because you have suspicions of being autistic or an Asperger's, enter the I'm doubting category.

I'm totally relying on your sincerity when filling out these forms. There is no way to make the gathered data scientifically sound, as I have no means whatsoever to check the validity of these results. However, if differences will be found, that would be interesting ...

Yours sincerely,

Noorderlicht
