Cave of Sleepers: Shayen

Entry 5

Thank you Lydia. I would like it if you'd call me cousin. It
somehow gives me the feeling I belong. Even though
we are probably far apart and will quite possibly never
meet, all you out there are the closest thing to a family
I've had in a long time. And thank you as well Cassandra.
I'm keeping my eyes open and my guard up all right. It's
what's keeping me and my "protégé" alive right now.

I'm still in the same place, not by choice but out of pure
necessity. Red, the man I saved, is slipping in and out
of consciousness. When he is he's not being coherent.
The things he's been saying are very colourful but don't
make any sense. The fevers that are attacking his body
are making him delirious. I've been protecting him, and
me of course, the best way possible for three long days
now. I was able to move us to a somewhat safer location,
but we've been attacked by things twelve times now. Red's
screaming and ranting are obviously attracting them like
moths to a flame. And then there is Reds magic…in his
ranting he's been conjuring twice. The first time he got
kind of transparent, surrounded by colours, but it stopped
as soon as he lost consciousness. The second time there
was a huge explosion and I got wounded. But on the up
side it did kill the creature I was fighting at the time, so I'd
like to think that was a good thing.

I don't know how much longer I can keep this up. I haven't
slept in days. And I'm still not sure it will be worth all the
effort, he could still die on me. I hope he wont. I don't even
know him and yet it would somehow pain me to lose him
after all we've been through.
